Moving Through Nature

The Goat 2023 – a pure, technical and brutal MTN race. A New Hope (Mt). A mountain top plateau less than 15 km from Mt Owen but a landscape different in so many ways, made for another fantastic orienteering/mountaineering adventure today. The tough going marshes, Nordic in nature, were enough to lure Nick “Boss” Hann out of the Wairoa Gorge. Mt O (wen), or Dimrill Dale, is where the fellowship escaped the Mines of Moria to following Gandalf’s death – “fly, you fools!”. The glaciated marble karst is spectacular in every sense and provided a truly unique orienteering/mountaineering experience on the first day of 2023. GoldenTC – The discipline of flying. From the impressive Cobb Valley to the spectacular Wharariki Beach, this training camp in August was a real highlight in 2022. Brent, Amelia, Regan and Lizzie joined for a weekend of intensive running and adventuring. Driving back from Golden Bay, the skies opened and the Top of the South experienced the largest storm in living memory for most. This story begins with an approach.  One which must be different from previous attempts, it may very well be my last.  A team is being formed, a core group of high-value people and sponsors to maximise the possibility of success.  The Adventure King has agreed to offer his mentorship, 7*World Champion, Nathan Fa’avae.  This approach will be different.
